Hi Stephen and Vincent,
There is no explicit Open Channel SSD support in SPDK yet. But here at Intel we have just
very recently started talking about what Open Channel APIs for the SPDK NVMe driver might
look like. I’d expect a very early RFC for some of the basic APIs sometime in Q2.
I say “explicit” only because most if not all of the necessary work could be done using
the SPDK raw APIs, but I think the desire is to have SPDK OCSSD-specific APIs similar to

Are you planning to upstream support for OCSSDs in SPDK? If so I would be very interested
in seeing those patches.
Most of the work I have seen on application updates for OCSSDs has been more academic than
industrial at this stage. I suggest you contact the people at CNEX or WD as they seem to
be leading the charge on software support for OCSSDs.
Of course last week’s Denali announcement by Microsoft at OCP suggests they are doing work
in this space. Not clear how open that work will be. However Laura is very approachable so
that’s another avenue you could pursue to learn more.

recently we are working on "open channel SSD"
And some of our software is developed in SPDK.
So we want to known does any application or support of "Open channel SSD"
exist in SPDK now ??
Any information or hint is appreciated.
